報(bào)告題目:Nonlocal modeling, analysis and computation: some recent development

報(bào)告摘要：Nonlocality has become increasingly noticeable in nature. The effective modeling and simulation of its presence and impact bring on new challenges to mathematicians. In this talk, we will discuss nonlocal models with a finite horizon of interactions and their roles in various applications. We will reveal some practical risks due to inappropriately designed nonlocal models and discretizations. We will show how systematic mathematical development can help making nonlocal modeling and simulations more effective and robust for problems in areas like solid and fluid mechanics, and autonomous vehicle traffic flows.

杜強(qiáng)教授簡(jiǎn)介

杜強(qiáng)，博士，哥倫比亞大學(xué)傅氏基金會(huì)應(yīng)用數(shù)學(xué)講席教授，數(shù)據(jù)研究院數(shù)據(jù)驅(qū)動(dòng)科學(xué)計(jì)算體系中心共同主任。美國(guó)數(shù)學(xué)會(huì)會(huì)士，美國(guó)科學(xué)促進(jìn)協(xié)會(huì)會(huì)士、工業(yè)與應(yīng)用數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)會(huì)會(huì)士、國(guó)際數(shù)學(xué)家大會(huì)邀請(qǐng)報(bào)告人。馮康科學(xué)計(jì)算獎(jiǎng)獲得者，曾任科技部第二批973計(jì)劃“大規(guī)模科學(xué)計(jì)算研究”首席科學(xué)家。
