摘 要：Black-box has been an important tool in studying computational complexity theory and has been used for establishing the hardness of problems. With an exponential growth in big-data recently, data-driven computation has utilized blackbox as a tool for proving solutions to some computational problems. In this note, we present several observations on this new role of black box using reduction techniques in the computational complexity theory.

報告人簡介

堵丁柱，美國得克薩斯大學(xué)達(dá)拉斯分校教授。堵丁柱教授于1982在中國科學(xué)院獲得碩士學(xué)位，于1985年在美國加州大學(xué)圣巴巴拉分校獲得博士學(xué)位。堵老師曾擔(dān)任美國明尼蘇達(dá)大學(xué)教授、中科院應(yīng)用數(shù)學(xué)所研究教授、西安交通大學(xué)理學(xué)院名譽院長等職務(wù)，也曾擔(dān)任美國國家自然基金委CISE/CCF學(xué)部的項目主任。

堵丁柱教授的主要研究方向為計算生物學(xué)與網(wǎng)絡(luò)組合優(yōu)化問題的近似算法設(shè)計與分析、社交網(wǎng)絡(luò)計算等。堵老師在這些領(lǐng)域取得了一系列國際公認(rèn)的研究成果，在國際一流期刊和頂級國際會議上發(fā)表學(xué)術(shù)論文200余篇，撰寫了10余本學(xué)術(shù)專著。他關(guān)于Gilbet-Pollak猜想的證明被1992年大英百科全書收錄為1991年數(shù)學(xué)六大杰出成就之一，該成果也曾被New York Time、Science、Science News、SIAM News和New Scientists等雜志和學(xué)術(shù)期刊報道。堵教授曾獲得國家自然科學(xué)2等獎1項、3等獎1項，國家青年科學(xué)家獎，中科院自然科學(xué)1等獎等榮譽。他目前是SCI期刊Journal of Combinatorial Optimization的主編，國際刊物Discrete Mathematics，Algorithms and Applications和Computational Social Networks的聯(lián)合主編，Theoretical Computer Science、Graphs and Combinatorics、Journal of Global Optimization等SCI期刊的編委。
